At the beginning of the year I like to do a year in review of what I was able to accomplish for the year. Some years have been huge in terms of what I produced (hello, 27 sweaters) and some were big for me in terms of what I was able to learn. This year I was proud of how I just kind of jumped into colorwork and two color brioche. I also grew this blog audience a lot, I think because of Mason Dixon knitting featuring me and being interviewed on the Pom Pom podcast this summer. All because of a tiny Durumi sweater for Jellybean. We also did a Tecumseh knitalong in a Ravelry group this year.
2018 was also a year of changes for me. I cut off all of my hair, left a job that became toxic, started teaching full time and turned 40. I will say the last half of my year was definitely way better. And in between all of this I knit a lot.
This year I knit 56 items! That included:
- 18 sweaters, 13 full length sleeves, 5 short sleeves
- 1 vest
- 8 dog sweaters (not all for my pups)
- 1 pair of slippers
- 12 hats
- 9 shawls and cowls
- 1 toy
- 5 baby sweaters/dresses
- 1 tie

Happy New Year. I love your use of color; I’m a basic color person, but this year I am going to get bold and move past the boring. Also, I wish I could knit as fast as you do. Keep the pics coming.

I love all the knitting you have done in 2018. It is all so cheerful and it makes me smile when I see it. I was just wondering if you could advise a beginner knitter which of your projects would be suitable for a beginner. I have knitted scarves and would like to move on. Yes! Try Jane Richmond patterns. I find she makes really easy to follow patterns!
