2018 Year in Review

At the beginning of the year I like to do a year in review of what I was able to accomplish for the year. Some years have been huge in terms of what I produced (hello, 27 sweaters) and some were big for me in terms of what I was able to learn. This year I was proud of how I just kind of jumped into colorwork and two color brioche. I also grew this blog audience a lot, I think because of Mason Dixon knitting featuring me and being interviewed on the Pom Pom podcast this summer. All because of a tiny Durumi sweater for Jellybean. We also did a Tecumseh knitalong in a Ravelry group this year.

2018 was also a year of changes for me. I cut off all of my hair, left a job that became toxic, started teaching full time and turned 40. I will say the last half of my year was definitely way better. And in between all of this I knit a lot.

This year I knit 56 items! That included:

  • 18 sweaters, 13 full length sleeves, 5 short sleeves
  • 1 vest
  • 8 dog sweaters (not all for my pups)
  • 1 pair of slippers
  • 12 hats
  • 9 shawls and cowls
  • 1 toy
  • 5 baby sweaters/dresses
  • 1 tie

Not too shabby if I do say so myself. If you’re interested in what I made each month just scroll down and click on the month to get to that month’s wrap-up. Thanks for joining me on this journey. What were you able to accomplish this year?

  1. I found you randomly while looking for new blogs to follow (14 years of the same blogs). I fell in love with the colors and joy in your pictures. Also, I love the pups. Now I have to go check out MDK and that Pom Pom thing. Happy new year!

  2. Happy New Year to you and your family! Congratulations on your knitting feats. I look forward to your knitting items and your blog.

  3. How do you make so many things in one year? I am inspired! 👏🏾

  4. Happy New Year. I love your use of color; I’m a basic color person, but this year I am going to get bold and move past the boring. Also, I wish I could knit as fast as you do. Keep the pics coming.

  5. I am in awe of your productivity! I love the colours you use and the obvious joy you get from knitting ☺. I knit very few things last year, but this year I hope to make much more!

  6. That is an amazing amount of knitting for anyone, but I don’t know how you did it with a full time job! Keep them coming!

  7. So many reminders here of items I want to put in my queue for 2019! You’ve been an unending source of inspiration to me — and not just on the knitting side of things.

  8. WOW What an accomplishment in knitting all of those projects, considering living life. Fantastic!!!! I completed 6 items (afghans, and shawls using fingering, DK yarn). I’m slow-lol. What knitting method do you use? I’m a picker.
Really enjoy reading your (the only one) blog. Looking forward to seeing what projects you take on this year. May the New Year bring many blessings!!

  9. Wow wow wow and congratulations on all that gorgeous knitting! Love that you just jump in to whatever technique inspires you. I used to do that but have become a “safe” knitter…lol. I’m going to start jumping in again with techniques and color. Thanks and a rocking’ 2019 to you!

  10. I’m always amazed at your variety and volume and this year is no exception! You really and truly rock lady!!!

  11. I love all the knitting you have done in 2018. It is all so cheerful and it makes me smile when I see it. I was just wondering if you could advise a beginner knitter which of your projects would be suitable for a beginner. I have knitted scarves and would like to move on. Thank you for all your inspiration.

  12. Wow – big year for sure! You knit a lot of really beautiful things, and yay for your your happy life changes as well!

  13. That’s really impressive, and as always, the colours brightened my day a little. Well done!

  15. So much to love!! Still working on my Tecumseh–sorry I wasn’t able to get it done in sync with the DWJ-along, but it’s getting there. 🙂
