Stitching Status: Closing Out The Year

Untitled
It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m ready for two days of lounging, knitting on the couch snuggled between the dogs and my husband while we watch TV marathons. I was actually able to finish his vest before the end of the year! Hopefully I can get a picture of him in it before he’s back to work this week. I’m also now obsessed with the lightness of the Berroco Remix yarn I used for it and of course I want to make myself something with it in 2019. I’ve also been looking at the Best Nine of my photos on Instagram this year and of course they’re all knitting related.

I don’t post a ton but what I do post that is liked the most are my sweaters! No surprise here. But I also love seeing the range of colors I post too.

Of course shades of teal from my kitchen wall are always prominent but this year my colors varied a lot. I knit the rainbow and there is lots of pink! But I definitely see more green in my future. Whatever 2019 holds, I know for sure there will be more knitting and more joy. Here’s hoping your new year is your best yet! See you in 2019.

FO: A Glass Ceiling Sweater for Jellybean

I couldn’t resist. I made Jellybean a coordinating Glass Ceiling sweater to match mine.

It never takes me long and when it’s this quick and easy, you just can’t resist. I also try to make the sweaters look very similar in shape to mine so you’ll notice this sweater has a bit more ease built into it.

It’s almost like a little dress but it’s all so soft and cozy. Also, look at her tiny popped paw. She’s so stinking cute.

From the side view you can see that it’s a fuller sweater, I wanted to try something a bit different. I just added in an additional row of increases before I separated for the sleeves to make sure she had the ease built into the sweater. Since I’m working with a much smaller space on Jellybean sized sweaters (reminder, she’s just at 6lbs which is a little bit for a chihuahua) I had to reduce the amount of colors I incorporated into her yoke. I decided to omit the orange-red and the final deep blue. But I kept the black ribbing at the neckline and hem.

Is it silly to make her a sweater? Perhaps but honestly, she’s always cold. Her little hairless belly makes anything below 50 degrees a bit too cool for her, so she’s wearing clothes every day. And does it make it happy? Absolutely, so I’ll keep on doing it. And if you’re wondering if Cher feels left out…

She’s been shedding like crazy as her fuller winter coat comes in and she could care less if she’s wearing a sweater or not. She’ll survive. LOL

FO: The One Christmas Gift

Happy day after Christmas! I hope if you celebrated you had a lovely day. I had a nice day celebrating with my family and friends at my Mom’s house and surprisingly on Christmas Eve I whipped up a single knit gift. Since I started teaching full time on Thursdays I spend time with my Mom and our friend Ann, helping Ann up her knitting skills. My Mom doesn’t knit but provides a lot of laughter and Ann just wants to make small things for her grandkids. We laugh, we eat great lunches and we knit. And Ann and her husband were joining us for Christmas dinner and I decided to whip up a Bandana Cowl for her.

I dug through my stash and pulled out this yummy Fibre Co. Tundra yarn in the colorway Krill. I knew I could whip this up in a couple of hours and I watched Christmas movies with my husband on the couch and knit away. She was delighted. I haven’t really done holiday deadline knitting for a while, I just hate the pressure. But this was a delight to make on a leisurely Christmas Eve at home. I also finished making Jellybean a Glass Ceiling sweater…but we’ll talk about that on Friday. Here’s a little sneak peek.

I don’t know if I will finish anything else between now and next week but you never know!
