FO: Matching Set

I’m getting to the end of the month and wanted to share another set of finished objects I made. I was hoping to get modeled photos but hadn’t as of yet so I wanted to share the projects anyway. My best friend Steven has a beautiful King Charles Spaniel named Sophie. You may remember that I knit her a sweater before and I made him a matching tie. Well this time as a belated Christmas gift I made Steven a hat that coordinated with a new sweater for Sophie.
Cute pairings
If I ever had a line of dog sweaters I’d just make coordinating hats for the owners, it’s the easiest matching pair. And for Steven I knew I wanted to make them a coordinated set and because he’s so NY and wears a ton of black on the when he’s not at work I knew I wanted to knit them something black but with a little something extra added to it. I’ve had a skein and a half leftover from my Caldwell cape of this really fun yarn from the Lemonade Shop called Mega Stuffed Toxic Oreo and it always reminds me of graffiti and I thought it would be the perfect contrast with black. I went with a soft acrylic yarn, Premier Yarns Everyday Worsted Solids, to help with wear and tear since I knew it would be on the body of the dog sweater.
Cute pairings
I decided to make the Max sweater pattern for Sophie and make the triangle accents look like an exaggerated shirt collar. I really love how it turned out in the end. And I love the purl accent on the body so the sweater that looks like it has fancy seams running down the back.
Cute pairings
For the hat I went with the Purl Soho Classic Cuffed Hat because I knew it had inches of ribbing for the brim which would adapt well to an accent color.
Cute pairings
Both projects were super soft and so cute together. And Steven sent me the cutest boomerang video when he opened his package.
Steven and his gifts
He told me I outdid myself this time and promised to send pictures soon. I’ll make sure to share them when I get them.

FO: Party Top Sweater

First, there was TONS of great advice in the comments on my post about frogging. I’m going to try to pull it all together into one blog post. Now remember in that same post I was talking about a sweater I had to frog back and now I’m sharing the finished piece! This is the Party Top sweater.
Party Top Sweater
I think I’m falling in love with cropped sweaters. Instead of the fuller cropped silhouette like my Boxed Pullover, this one has a more fitted shape. I decided to knit this one with a strand of Neighborhood Fiber Company Loft yarn, a lace weight mohair yarn and a strand of Berroco Vintage DK in Breezeway from my stash. I’ve heard that mohair can be itchy and make a sweater overwhelmingly hot. I don’t feel like this is itchy at all, it’s super soft. I think because it’s cropped and has shorter sleeves it isn’t an overwhelmingly hot sweater either. Maybe it’s a perfect type of sweater to knit with mohair.

I love the mohair haze on this sweater.

I will admit, if I had more yarn I probably would’ve made it an inch longer but I only had enough to get it to the specified length which is fine with me. I was able to pair it with a couple of of different tops and skirts/pants combos in my wardrobe, so it will work. And I really love the texture the mohair gives and then the added bits of color it gave to what would’ve been just a solid colored sweater make this a little special. Now I’m going to want to add a strand of mohair to everything. LOL

I’ve really been looking at my stash and what I want to make and what gaps I have in my wardrobe. I have four works in progress that I’ve been letting hang out for a bit (and may for a little longer) and I cast on a lovely Balloon Cardigan on Saturday in a gorgeous deep red orange. I’ve been wanting something with a dramatic sleeve and this is definitely it. I’ve also been thinking about things my sisters have wanted me to make them so I’ve been going over the perfect patterns to make them something special this year. I’m excited about knitting and clearly all my productivity is showing my excitement. What are you excited to be making right now?

Yarn & Avocados

It’s Friday so I thought I’d share something fun. I’ve taken matching to a whole new level…

Last weekend I met up with Shelli of Shelli Can, she makes cool flair and things to wear for fiber folks and she’s local! So we met at Fibre Space for a weekend event they were having and I told her I’d wear the ‘Avo Yarn Problem’ sweatshirt I bought from her so I could show her Jellybean’s avocado sweatshirt too. I usually buy her one or two really nice quality sweatshirts to last all winter and I love the ones from Sir Dogwood.

They also make this sweatshirt in a hoodie and a onesie version. I adore the modern and cute clothes. Also, Jellybean’s poses kill me. I know it’s silly but man it makes me smile and that’s all that really matters. So I thought I’d share and make you smile too. Have a great weekend!
