First FO of the Year: Littlest Linus Sweater

I did it. I knit Jellybean a tiny brioche sweater, a little Linus sweater. I wanted her to have a sweater that matched my Linus sweater I made for Rhinebeck and I used our road trip to Atlanta at the beginning of the month to take the time to whip it up for her.

Here’s the thing, making her a sweater is quicker than knitting an adult hat. How could I not make her one? I also had the tiniest bits of yarn left over from my finished cardigan and it was more than enough to accomplish this.

Matching Linus sweaters

This sweater really does make me happy and seeing her in a matching version makes me smile even more. I haven’t made her a cardigan (I do not feel like wasting buttons on a chihuahua) so I went with a pullover. The Linus Sweater comes in cardigan and pullover options so I thought it was appropriate to make her the pullover.

I will admit, sometimes when she scratches her belly with her back paws she will snag a sweater so this one will only be worn for special occasions. I can’t risk her pulling out all that tiny brioche! And for anyone who worries you she might be miserable in a sweater, she’s not. I promise you she’s perfectly warm and happy. Just like when she’s in her sling.

  1. Your matching sweaters puts a smile on my face every time:) I used to have a 3lb Yorkie who loved his sweaters in the cold weather. I’m sure Jellybean feels as snug as a bug in a rug:)

  2. She looks stunning! You both look perfectly content.

  3. I love ALL your sweaters 💙 what size needles do you use when you make jelly bean sweaters ?

  4. So much love to you and JB (and throw pillows!). Unbearably lovely. We had a dog that enjoyed alpaca. I once made my husband a brioche scarf out of an alpaca-wool blend (do you see where I am going with this?), and the dog’s ‘enjoyment’ of that scarf taught me that I could not really repair brioche properly and apparently no one on the internet could either.

  5. Absolutely adorable!!! I’ve been knitting sweaters for Ruffian since I’ve had him. He’s a 16 lb mini schnauzer. I recently got a chiweenie. Grumpy is all of 4 months old and about 4 lbs. Any suggestions on pattern sources for him? He’s soo tiny!! I’ve already tried to alter one of my usual patterns and it wasn’t quite right. I love your work, by the way! ♥

    1. Start with the sparkle pattern on Ravelry, I’ve made Beanie this littlest size and sometimes I go down a needle size.

  6. I cannot even handle the cuteness! Especially in her sling. She is precious!

  7. 😆😆🤣🤣ok, I literally have no more excuses for languishing Lucy’s sweaters since you said knitting Jellybean a sweater is faster than knitting a hat. I love her Linus sweater and adore the 2 of you matching. Thank you for a great post🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🐶

  8. You always glow in your photos, but especially so when you hold Jellybean. Darling mother/“daughter” sweaters, lucky pup!

  9. OMG. So freakin adorable! You’ve made my day. Thank you. ❤️

  10. How could you NOT make a tiny brioche marvel for Jellybean?? You do look so happy when she has a darling sweater of your making!

  11. Your rainbow sparkle glasses are so perfect with this sweater.
