FO: Matching Set

I’m getting to the end of the month and wanted to share another set of finished objects I made. I was hoping to get modeled photos but hadn’t as of yet so I wanted to share the projects anyway. My best friend Steven has a beautiful King Charles Spaniel named Sophie. You may remember that I knit her a sweater before and I made him a matching tie. Well this time as a belated Christmas gift I made Steven a hat that coordinated with a new sweater for Sophie.
Cute pairings
If I ever had a line of dog sweaters I’d just make coordinating hats for the owners, it’s the easiest matching pair. And for Steven I knew I wanted to make them a coordinated set and because he’s so NY and wears a ton of black on the when he’s not at work I knew I wanted to knit them something black but with a little something extra added to it. I’ve had a skein and a half leftover from my Caldwell cape of this really fun yarn from the Lemonade Shop called Mega Stuffed Toxic Oreo and it always reminds me of graffiti and I thought it would be the perfect contrast with black. I went with a soft acrylic yarn, Premier Yarns Everyday Worsted Solids, to help with wear and tear since I knew it would be on the body of the dog sweater.
Cute pairings
I decided to make the Max sweater pattern for Sophie and make the triangle accents look like an exaggerated shirt collar. I really love how it turned out in the end. And I love the purl accent on the body so the sweater that looks like it has fancy seams running down the back.
Cute pairings
For the hat I went with the Purl Soho Classic Cuffed Hat because I knew it had inches of ribbing for the brim which would adapt well to an accent color.
Cute pairings
Both projects were super soft and so cute together. And Steven sent me the cutest boomerang video when he opened his package.
Steven and his gifts
He told me I outdid myself this time and promised to send pictures soon. I’ll make sure to share them when I get them.

FO: Ultimate Fan

This is my husband. He is a super NY Giants fan.
Ready for football!
The purchases he loves for the dogs are all NY Giants gear. Cher has a coat for winter, both dogs have jerseys and Cher has a bandana because her jersey is getting too big for her. So the other day we were in Lids and my husband saw this NY Giants hat
And he asked me, ‘you can make this for me, right?’ It’s just a simple ribbed knit cap and I immediately thought of the free Purl Soho pattern for the ribbed cuff hat that I’d made before. Yup, I can make that. Before we went home he took me to Joann’s to get the yarn I needed to make it for him.
Super fan
This is his beloved (and I sincerely mean beloved) NY Giants hat. On Black Friday I ordered a NY Giants sew on patch to add to the front…I still haven’t gotten it yet and the company isn’t responsive. Ugh. So for now there’s no patch but that doesn’t stop him from wearing it.
Super fan
It was a quick knit and I used a Deborah Norville worsted weight yarn in a bright Giants blue as the main body color. I added in some acrylic fingering weight yarn I picked up at Joann’s and I had some Cascade 200 fingering weight in the perfect shade of red to finish it off. I just held the strands double while I knitted and I got this heathered look like the original. He is so happy about this hat. I even caught him taking a selfie in the hat. LOL And that kind of happiness is why I love making stuff for the folks I love. He’ll still get a sweater but clearly this hat was more of a priority.

What’s a favorite item you’ve knit for someone you love?
