I love being able to knit, especially for babies. Last Friday night I decided to whip up a cardigan for our friend’s 4 month old baby boy because they were coming over on Sunday. I had a busy weekend but managed to fit in enough time to whip up this Dapper Dude cardigan.
I used my trusted and favorite baby cardigan, Baby & Child Sophisticate. I’ve made five cardigans from this pattern this year alone and they’re all so incredibly different.
You can add whatever buttons, shawl collar, basic collar, change it to a ribbed collar if you want. And don’t even get me started on the color combinations. Again, if you’re looking for a really awesome and easy to follow pattern this one is worth the $6.50 – I promise.
For this option since I knew I was making it for an adorable and very brown little boy I decided to go with a deep forest green color in the Caron Simply Soft yarn. And when I was going through my button stash I remembered I randomly picked up these mustache buttons on Etsy and I felt like they just made this look like a cardigan made for a dapper gentleman, right?
I made this in the 6 months size so he’d be able to wear it all winter and when we tried it on it was a nice fit with room to grow. He’s so stinking cute in it. And that’s why I love knitting things for babies, the cuteness level is just off the charts.
I’ve got a busy weekend but hoping to fit in some knitting, what are your plans?
sooo cute!
I love that green. And these mustache buttons are so fun!
You make me want to learn how to crochet…so cute!!!!
It’s all knitting, no crochet!
That’s lovely, the buttons are the perfect finishing touch. 😊
baby cardigans are the BEST baby gifts! And I love the colours you’ve chosen for the ones you’ve knit, and those buttons! Kid cardi buttons are the best.
Just adorable! And those buttons are way too cute!
