The best messages come with lots of exclamation points! I mentioned that Monday was delivery day for the baby cardigan and blanket and my BFF Jess was getting her Togue Pond tank that she oh-so-subtly hinted that she wanted me to make her. The expecting parents sent me an email with lots of ALL CAPS and plenty of exclamation points!!! on Monday evening. Jess on the other hand did not – her package got delayed {insert sad face}!! Luckily when she was headed out to work the next morning the package was waiting for her! Since she was in a rush, she had to wait to open it when she got home and as soon as she did she sent me this pic.
The caption was “PERFECT!” She also told me she would be wearing it to work today. HA! I have a small circle of very close friends who I consider family and they get knits from me (I don’t really knit for just anyone – only folks I know will truly appreciate it) but I am always nervous when I give a knit gift. Will it fit? What if they don’t like it? What if they wear it and suddenly all the yarn unravels and they’re naked?! I know, weird but I’m a bit of a worrier. So when I get excited calls, texts and emails after a package has been received I’m relieved. When I get immediate pictures of them in their garment or of their baby wrapped in a blanket I’m extra happy. That’s the best part of giving a gift, spreading joy to someone you care about.
Since this was my second time knitting this one I think I did a better job (although I am horrible about picking up wraps on wrap and turns…getting better though as I do a third tank!). I also love the color combo of the goldenrod yellow and teal, plus it’s a color combo I thought Jess would appreciate. She’s an interior designer and artist and all around creative, I can always try fun stuff with her. I also added an additional inch to the body so that it wouldn’t be cropped on her and it fits her perfectly, so I plan to do the same with my second tank for myself. I’m hoping to finish mine by the end of the weekend and then get back to working on my aunt’s sweater. I also recognize that I’m a speedy knitter and yet I’m still impatient and want to get everything finished all at once. Must practice knitting patience!
So have I convinced you to make the Togue Pond tank for yourself yet?
Aw, lucky friend!
OMG!!! Totally Awesome!!!! I knew it, it fits her perfectly! 🙂 Looks like she tried it on right outta the box, ha!ha! 😉
Yes … you have! Great job as usual lady.
That looks great! I just took Carol Feller’s free short row class on Craftsy. I can recommend it. She goes through about four different versions of how to get those Wrap&Turns as smooth as possible.
I think I’m just more lazy about making sure to pick them up. I’m so horrible but this third tank is looking almost perfect!
