Stitching Status: Color Inspiration

I’ve talked about my love of color here extensively but what I haven’t talked about is my fear of colorwork. Stranded, fair isle, intarsia…it’s all greek to me but as I see more and more colorful patterns I love I am realizing I need to get over my fears and get to learning!

On the left is a lovely knit suit from the Prada Fall 2017 Ready to Wear Collection. I saw another version of it in one of the September issues and it made me remember the Ravelry pattern on the right. The Shuffle Kimono and the Sunset Sails Jacket are both free patterns from Rowan that fill my color loving heart with joy and my knitting hands with fear. But this is my ultimate knit that will take some time to work up to but I’ve promised myself it will get knit.

Do any of you have knitting fears? Or projects you’re waiting until you’ve perfected a technique?

Winter is Coming, Knit Faster

I don’t know if any of you watch Game of Thrones. I do and I love me some Jon Snow! So of course when I saw this yarn bowl I fell in love. Fortunately for me I already have a gorgeous green ceramic yarn bowl but if I ever need a second this one is on my list.

Between studying for the GRE (I swear as my math gets better my verbal gets worse – say a prayer for me please), watching the Democratic National Convention speeches and mindless knitting of the body of my custom knit – nothing exciting is happening in my world. So here’s a picture of Cher.
Most nights she’s perched underneath my chair while I study, staying as close to me as she possibly can. Last night she didn’t care to go up and down the stairs behind me and stood paused like this for a bit waiting to see if I was going to come back up or stay down. LOL I love that little dog. Hopefully more updates on knitting progress on Friday!

Patterns on My Radar

I have tons of yarn in my stash, I’m currently working on a sweater and a custom design tee in a cotton blend. I’ve got lots of ideas of what I want to make with my stash but I’m also falling in love with new patterns every day. I thought I’d share a few of my favorites right now.

Brooklin Vest

I saw the Brooklin Vest on Berroco’s Instagram feed the other day and fell in love. It’s an open front vest with a basketweave back design. It’s also knit in one seamless piece – such a perfect fall layering piece. Added bonus – I have the Berroco Vintage Chunky in my stash the pattern was made with. YAY! Totally making this for myself in the future.
Ice ream Shawl via Ravelry
The Ice Cream shawl is another favorite I keep going back to because I keep seeing such awesome color combinations. After knitting the Rain Outside shawl I’m all about stash busting with shawls, so you may see more and more shawls on my needles in the next few months.

And speaking of shawls, Interlude Shawl is definitely also on my must list. Will I just look silly if I drape myself in shawls every day this fall when the temps drop? Perhaps. Will I care? Nope, not at all.

Equation Cardigan via Ravelry

And because I’m cardigan/sweater obsessed you know I have a million cardigans on my must-make list. I’m a little obsessed with Equation and the chevron on the side and the pocket detail. Aarrgh! So many patterns and so little time to knit everything I want.

Share a pattern you’re obsessed with too! It will clearly make my list even longer.
