I’ve been plugging away at the Homecoming Cardi over the last week, so much so I haven’t touched a test knit for a week. I’m not worried, it’s not due until mid October. I think it is the mix of bright colors and the ease of the mosaic stitch pattern that has me picking it up.
I’m using Knit Picks Mighty Stitch in Pucker, a neon pink, as my main color and am pairing it with Knitty and Color’s Unicorns vs. Sharpie’s colorway. It’s kind of like a neon rainbow dipped in a black rinse. I love all the little pops of color that shine through the bright pink. I am thinking of pulling one of the colors from the contrast color out to do a different solid colored sleeve. Right now I’m considering Mighty Stitch in Eggplant since I’ve got it in my stash. It’s a nice deep purple that looks really pretty against the bright pink.
Jellybean wanted to show off her neon rainbow tee while I was trying to take a picture. I also wanted to show off her Dogs for Biden Harris t-shirt, I picked it up from Pawmiscuous. She’s got cute bandanas and t-shirts in her shop.
Honestly, this election means so much this year and I feel like I can’t stay silent about it. I’m angry about how COVID-19 was managed here and I feel like the United States is spiraling out of control into chaos. It is so bizarre to watch everything unravel, but I remain hopeful. So here’s to voting and knitting and remaining sane in these crazy times.

And that sweater on those colors is GORGEOUS!!
This is such a cheerful project! And I love the dogs for Biden/Harris sweater. I want to buy one for every dog I know. Since I live in the UK, those dogs would surely turn heads. Be safe!
Can’t wait to see this finished sweater. Of all your fantastic color choices, this is my favorite!!
Love what you do with color. Love your courage in all things. Agree with your statement about the state of our country right now.
I love your cardi and I love Jellybean’s tshirts. I feel the same way as you. I pray day and at night trump is voted out of office in a a major way margin is nice, but most definitely voted out🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Yes! I’m losing sleep over the election myself. I love Jellybean’s t-shirt. I love the colors in your sweater and look forward to seeing it finished.

Amen to that! We all need to work to get it done. The sweater will be gorgeous!
This election sure is to important to keep quite. For the first time I have a sign in the front of my house. Bidden/Harris. I think he is the one person who can heal this country. I love Jellybean’s t-shirt.
Your colors as so amazing! It’s no wonder that you haven’t worked on anything else! You are so right! Vote, vote, vote!
Go all the way Jellybean! I do love your colors, too!
I love your sweater. Jellybean is rockin her Biden t-shirt! Yes. This is a very important election and I’m with you. Love your posts!
Yes on Jellybean’s t-shirt! Sincerely, a blue voter in Croatia. FWIW: your “but what if you knit something wonderful?” quote from a few weeks back stayed with me during the two days I experimented on the emPower People shawl. Thank you so much for those words.
Someone else said that resonated with them too and I’m glad it touched someone 💛
Do you think Jellybean can vote? We need every one!!
Too bad Jelly bean can’t vote. But at least the colors are on display!
Love the cardigan in progress. Such fabulous and vibrant yarns…can’t wait to see it done.
Hi, Dana! I have looked at that stitch pattern many times in a stitch dictionary I have and wondered what it would be like in real life. Gorgeous, is what!
I’m writing today from the middle of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Wildfires in every direction, and air quality rated 423 (for comparison, a good level is 26). I haven’t been able to knit for knit for awhile, but it’s becoming clear that it’s one of the few things I can do to combat stress that doesn’t require taking deep breaths of unhealthy air. A couple of UFOs are coming out of storage!
No matter what may be burning down or otherwise threatening, please stay safe, Dana, and all Dana’s other friends out there… We’ve got to be strong and healthy enough to vote when the time comes!
Hi Oona, I’m in the Willamette Valley too! Can you believe this? After 49 years here I thought I’d seen all the weather Oregon could through at us, but these last few years have been crazy! Stay safe!

Thanks for the good wishes, Meredith! I’m in Salem… I think we’re competing for the dishonor of having the worst air in the world.I hear we’ll have rain on Thursday. Fingers crossed.
Hi Dana- your homecoming Cardi is giving me all the feels. I just gotta finish my Lighthouse Cardi first (which I think you would like, btw).
Thanks for the adorable pictures of JB which always bring a smile. Biden/Harris for America!
Great colors, fabulous tee shirt on Jellybean! Totally agree with your sentiments. We must reclaim our country; it will be difficult. It’s time to carry forward the Civil Rights movement to to becoming our country’s number 1 objective.
Jelly Bean’s t-shirt is the BEST!! Thank you for sharing!
The colors of your Homecoming Cardi are beautiful!!! And, I LOVE Jellybean’s Dogs for Biden shirt!!!!!
So many others say what I think: the cardi stitches and colors are GORGEOUS! Absolutely love them. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Jellybean’s shirt. Thanks for speaking out on the whole of who you are. You inspire me. (although I still haven’t tried making any sweaters yet…….)
Yes yes yes! I agree. This election is so important! I live in Canada and am a dual citizen, proud to vote in both places, but gosh, this election is crucial in the US. —Also, I love how Jellybean divebombed your shots a little…my dog does this too, but she is a Gordon Setter mix. It kinda takes up the whole frame. 😄
Here’s to voting knitting and staying sane, xxoo
Your Homecoming Cardi is gorgeous! Thanks for the link to get the Biden Harris shirt. I’ve got my own JB here and that shirt is great! Love your blog!
C’est tellement joli ! 😉 First comment here because I’m not good enough in english. But, seriously, I love your blog ! Your smile makes me happy ! And Jellybean, she is so smart ! Even if I don’t express myself here in the future, be sure I’ll send you good vibrations by “télépathie” !
I’m pretty sure JB is too young to vote, but she’s definitely helping in other ways.
I’m with you. “Unraveling” is a very knitty term. A historical one would be devolving.
Here’s to it. I struggle for hope, but if you can have it, so can I. Thanks.
Those colours are sublime – they are so feelgood, I bet that it is a quick knit because of that. I suspect jellybean may be hinting for a matching garment…
I love your knitting, Jellybeans, and your commentary. Thank you so much for being a bright light in these times of grief and conflict.
Absolutely deliciously beautiful. The world needs a little cheerful sweater right about now, and words of wisdom.
