I told you all that I was going to make the most out of my winter break, and I’m knitting up a storm! I finished the Prado vest for my husband, the pattern is by Heidi Kirrmaier.

You only get one photo of him in it because he hates taking pictures and it was cold and he was ready to go. LOL This picture is actually a sneak peek of our holiday photos. I knit this vest for him with the holiday photos in mind and it’s an interesting construction that keeps you engaged and then just a lot of stockinette for the body. I knit it in a wool and cotton blend yarn, Haydenville, because he doesn’t like to get too overheated. What I didn’t think about was that the cotton would stretch a bit more when blocked, so I might pop it in the dryer or rip out some of the bottom garter ribbing. I’m leaning towards shrinking it just a bit – less work on my part.
My husband lives in sweater vests and button downs for winter, so I wanted to add something to his work wardrobe that I made just for him. He likes it, and wore this exact outfit to work today. But I know what he really wants is for me to get working on a few more hats for him now that he’s shaved his head. That’s next on my list!
It is so lovely. I am thinking about that pattern for myself with some mods looking forward to the Christmas photos. Hats are COOL
love this! A sweater still seems very overwhelming to me but a sweater vest….. that seems do-able ๐
That is a fantastic vest! Your husband looks really happy with it:)
Beautiful job! and your husband looks as if he realizes how lucky he is. So satisfying to make something special for someone special. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Your posts always brighten my day! Maybe itโs all the color… but I think itโs your wonderful attitude!
Your husband looks great, what a fantastic smile! Glad you’re finding the time to knit again. Have a wonderful holiday!!
I do like it when husbands get in on the act, because it’s always so good-natured of ’em ! ๐
Jellybean needs a matching one! ๐
Wow. I am jealous a husband who will wear your work. Don’t blame him it is fabโกโกโก
Sadly mine is a bit of a label junkie so would not be seen dead in anything that I have made ๐ค
Such a nice vest — and a handsome model, too! Are you saying it’s a little too long? I have the opposite problem: just finished a yoked pullover for my husband that had a garter stripe across the chest (just like the Prado), and my fit problem is too much width. It’s a top-down construction and looked great when I tried it on him at chest-length. But once the body was finished, I realized that those garter ridges were spreading out the fabric and making it bulge at what would be bust level on a woman… Not so flattering for my guy! Sigh. Time to pull it back and take out that ridge, I think. Glad your alterations don’t require quite so much fuss, Dana!
It goes really well with what he is wearing.
