Stitching Status: Update on Angelina

I started my Angelina pullover on Sunday, August 13. I’m making really good progress.

As of last night I had 12 inches from the underarm done! I just have to go to 14 1/2 before I start the short row shaping that gives the curved hem. I’m so excited! Then it’s 13 inches of stockinette for the sleeves – but zero shaping.

This is what a sea of green stockinette looks like. The good thing is that when I’m knitting it in the round I don’t have to look at my needles and I can watch TV and just mindlessly knit. I’m not trying to win any prizes with the Summer of Basics Makealong but I do want to finish this one by the end of next week. Only because I am excited about two other projects that are coming together. One is a custom sweater for myself that I’ve finally got all the right colors together and I’m insanely excited to start. The other is a perfect storm of finding the right yarn on sale, in the perfect color and then finding the perfect pattern for it to make a gift for my BFF. I cannot wait to start that either. Aaaaah there’s always so much I want to accomplish. I need more hands!

Also, Jellybean has decided that this sweater is all for her. She has crawled inside of it when I put it down and taken a nap. Whenever I put the ball of Ultra Alpaca yarn on the couch she uses it as her pillow. I don’t blame her, it’s super soft and cozy. I will admit though, I had to put this sweater down during last week’s episode of Game of Thrones. It was too intense and I was pretty sure I was going to have a heart attack while watching it. And if you’re a Thrones fan you’ll love what my friend made of Jellybean.

She’s my tiny 5lb dragon protecting my knitting. LOL Today is also one week from my birthday and I notified my husband that I will be celebrating starting today through the Labor Day weekend. That’s only right, right? LOL And hopefully that means lots of quality knitting time in because what I want is to finish this baby for my birthday. Fingers crossed.

  1. Ah, another Virgo? Both my son and partner are Virgos. September starts the beginning of the financial hemorrhaging season for me – hah! I feel the same way about the Handmaid’s Tale as you do about Game of Thrones (a show I’m woefully behind on -no spoilers!). Glad you have some good TV knitting. I’m in art-making lock-down, which has also dumped me from the #summerofbasics. Oh well. Next time. Nice green on the sweater.

    1. Handmaid’s Tale is chilling…a little too close to reality. I started watching the first two episodes by myself and then told my husband I couldn’t watch it alone. I keep getting freaked out thinking this might be what we’re coming to but if so I’m coming to you in Canada for safe haven! LOL

  2. I’ve always resisted yoked sweaters because of a couple that were tight even on my skinny shoulders. But this one looks like the cable pattern must provide more “give” where it’s needed. It certainly fits you well, without any telltale horizontal pleat about five inches down from the neckline. I think you’ve added another pattern to my to-do list!

    1. Well I’m hoping that with blocking it eases up a bit more. The cables are a bit dense up top, they look lovely but need to loosen up just a touch. And circular yoke construction seems to fit my frame fairly well but I get how it doesn’t for some.

  3. love love love the sweater and the color. looks really good on you too. maybe jellybean needs her own sweater from this yarn? I think she is giving you a hint..lol… cant wait to see the finished project!

    1. I keep saying I’m going to knit her a sweater. Now if I could figure out how to make her this sweater that would be hilariously cute.

  4. Angelina looks great. And I love your blog even when I don’t comment. Keep writing!

  5. I just love this! Thank you for knitting it so I can live vicariously through you and not have to start on it myself immediately. 😉 Jellybean is the cutest little dragon evahhhh!! I can’t believe Sunday is the last GOT episode for this season. So sad.

    1. I’m so sad it’s the last episode but I don’t know if my heart can take much more!

  6. Hooray for Virgos! I completely adore this green sweater. The colour, the cables, so so pretty!! I’m excited to see it finished.
