FO: Rosemary Cardigan

I realized that I don’t have a good place to take finished object pictures in my house, hence the lack of me taking finished photos. I’m going to try to remedy that. In the meantime, here are a few pics I snapped before heading off to work today (the semester is almost over!).

I’m a sucker for a shawl collar sweater but sometimes I find them to be a little small and I wanted a big and cozy collar. So when I saw the Rosemary Cardigan by Amy Christoffers (who also designed the Pressed Flowers cardigan that I knit and loved) I was like sign me up! The construction on this one was interesting and it took me a second to trust what I was reading and go for it. Is that just me? Do you read a pattern sometimes and think, that can’t be write only to find it it was exactly correct? LOL

I decided I wanted a tweedy yarn but not heavy so I could wear it during the spring and I settled on knitting it with Berroco Remix yarn in their Irish Moss color. I ordered mine from Little Knits but lots of local yarn shops and website carry this one. I wanted to use this yarn because I made my husband a vest with it a while ago and loved the fabric of it and he loves that vest so I thought why not make myself something with that yarn. I have some Remix in my stash in pink and turquoise but I had a dark green stuck in my brain.

Because this is knit in a worsted/aran weight yarn, it was a fairly quick knit. Additionally because the collar is so big and takes up a lot of your knitting and then the button bands are knit with the body, you aren’t purling long rows like most cardigans. It was an interesting knit that kept me engaged and I loved the fabric this yarn created. It’s cozy but light, so I’m not overwhelmingly hot. I think my only issue is I may rip out my cuffs and make the sleeve an inch longer but I also don’t mind it where it sits on me right now. My aunt wants me to knit her another sweater and I might just make another one of these this summer for her before her birthday. This is definitely a pattern worth knitting again.
