Monthly Review: August 2019

August was…a bit hectic. But I did finish a duo of cuteness.

Birds of a feather

The only project I was able to finish was my ‘Feather’ Featherweight cardigan and Jellybean’s ‘Feather’ Featherweight pullover. And to be honest, I’m so ready for fall and cooler temps so I can wear it, the yarn is so soft and it’s just so fun. I know my students think my style is so wild but I just like to wear what I love.

I keep picking up my Linus cardigan when I great breaks and my Ausma…well, it’s still in its baby stages. Maybe I’ll finish it by Christmas and wear it then since it’s green. I have been working on a sweater of my own design for my BFF Jess. She’s coming with me to Rhinebeck this year for that Saturday and I thought she should have a new sweater for that experience. I wanted to knit myself a Rhinebeck sweater and embroider it but honestly, I’d be happy to finish my Linus. It makes me smile whenever I look at it and my free time is super limited. What were you able to finish in the month of August? What are you looking forward to making next?

  1. I finished a fun project in August: these cute Yip-Yips. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/sfdcnj/yip-yips-knit-3
As usual, I have a bunch of WIPs, but I hope to finish a sweater for my granddaughter by the end of September. The project that I’m taking slowly but is giving me much happiness is a cabled shawl that I started back in May. I love your feather sweater, Dana!

  2. You two look adorable! Everything you make looks fabulous on you and Jellybean.

  3. Dana I love your sweater! I finished a Savage Heart Cardi https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/savage-heart-cardigan
I don’t have pictures yet, but I totally think you should knit one of these. The open sleeve shape makes for an airy sweater, which you might like. Also, the construction is very fun.
I also finished knitting the squares for a huge log cabin blanket, and I’m 1/4 of the way through joining them.
Thanks for the inspiration, and for continuing to post here when you must be buried with work. Being a student and a teacher- both high workload pursuits on their own- must be crazy. I’m over here cheering for you!

  4. Very cute sweaters for you both. WIPs this last month into his month.

  5. I don’t know which one of you two is cuter! I’m working on Andrea Mowrys Montana Mountain Cowl and I finished my first pair of socks! This is a big deal because I swore I would never be a sock knitter! I really can’t explain the appeal, but I’m hooked and I blame Kay Gardiner!!

    1. I want to knit a pair of socks for myself so maybe I will at some point this winter.

  6. I finished my vintersol sweater, a vintersol for my dog, a six point tee and a togue pond tank. Guess who inspired me haha 😁

      1. I have a couple of pics on Instagram…same username 😄 You have totally sparked the kniited dog sweater in me! Your custom dog sweater article on MDK is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

      2. You need a pic of you two together! ☺️ but I’m glad the article helped.

  7. My days are blending together – what day is it? Friday? Monday? Yes, I still have summer brain, which is turning into sabbatical brain. I’ve been knitting up a storm and am currently working on a tunic-length version of Alice. I’ll be on an extended road trip this fall, which includes a stop at Knit City in Vancouver. I’ll be missing Rhinebeck this year. Have fun!
