Today marks the last day of my summer break, I can’t believe how quickly it went! Next week I have faculty meetings and graduate school orientation and then it’s back to school. Everyone keeps asking how I feel and I don’t feel anything just yet but I’m sure when I step on campus my nerves will bubble up. I keep repeating in my head, ‘you got this, you got this.’
I’ve also got the Linus cardigan at the sleeve join portion, so I’ll have something to work on during orientation. I figure it’ll be a big auditorium and they’ll be going over a lot of things I’ve heard before so I might as well knit, right? And I’m going to try to record some videos over the weekend so I have some content to share when things get a bit hectic. But for today, I’m going to knit, snuggle my dog, watch a little trash tv and enjoy the last bits of my summer vacation. Have a great weekend!
I know exactly how you feel. I go back to teacher training next week. We can do this!
Love that photo of Jellybean with chin propped on the laptop! I hesitate to give you any advice, Dana, but let me say this. I admire you so much. I am so glad you are working toward a PhD. A PhD!!! As for your work, I know from previous posts how much enjoy your students and I’m sure that is mutual. Keep in mind that everywhere you go, you bring the beauty of who you are. I’m so glad I met you online.Go for it, Kiddo!

Everything Sandy said.
You got this!!!!
You will do well this year in graduate school. Look at the wonderful things you did this summer. Good luck!
I’m starting graduate school next week too! And at almost 58 years old I think, “what am I in for???” I know I won’t be able to knit as much with all of the reading and writing I will be doing so that makes me a little stressed. But this is an accomplishment (and a challenge) I have wanted for myself for years, and I am in a perfect spot in my life right now.
So the knitting time may be diminished for a few months but We’ve Got This!
Good for you! We are never too old to learn and grow.
You’ve Got Thisπππ» of course you do!! No doubts π

Jellybean looks exhausted just contemplating it all!
Good for you, Dana!
In the years we worked, the beginning of the fall semester always marked our New Year. A new start, a new schedule, a new structure in our lives. It was always a happy as well as stressful time. May this year go fabulously well for you! And remember that your excellent self-care is on your needles and in your lap.

You’re doing great, Dana….before you know it, next summer will be here. The colors are so beautiful in your cardigan, I’m sure it will make you smile during the dark days of winter when you think school will never end. It’s like knitting, just enjoy the process.
You got this! Also, what is your trash tv of choice????
Right now anything 90 Day FiancΓ© on TLC π€
you are so right…YOU GOT THIS!!! plus you have all your knitting friends rooting for you and when things get tough, just blog, we will be listening and ready to support you… go girl
Looking forward to seeing how this develops. I can’t resist colorful yarn, although I’m always wearing black. This is a great way to add color(s) and still be in my comfort zone.
Good luck! Youβve got this:)
Congratulations on going back to school! I donβt know you personally but you sure seem like you will do well in school again!! I started following your blog a few months ago and love it. I have yet to knit a sweater! Lots of baby sweaters but never for me. You may get me to try!!
I have a social media question – if you donβt mind! My 29 year old daughterβs instagram account is the same as a ladies clothing store. They have been asking her for 2 years to let them have the name. She does not buy their clothes and so when they offered her a gift card for it she said no thank you. We have done tons of research and we feel itβs worth a lot of money. Itβs clear the stores instagram account does not have as many followers as they would have with exactly their name. We compared them to a few other stores and itβs incredible the difference. Anyway – do you have any experience with this issue. – she is trying to decide how much she is willing to take for her account name? We feel itβs worth a lot of money. Thoughts? Suggestions on someone to take to about this issue?
Thank you – I hope to meet you one day- I live in Greenbelt! Love your dog too!
Me too! Iβve been teaching 27 years and I still get butterflies.. Have a great year.
I’ve been a lurker for ages but seeing Jellybean with her little nose right up against the screen cracked me up – in part because she’s looking at Blackboard! That’s all I’ve been doing for the past week….. I teach Art History at a community college in Idaho. Best of luck this coming year – juggling a PhD program and a full time job is a challenge.
