Maryland Sheep & Wool 2019

I had a pretty quick trip this year to Maryland Sheep and Wool. I didn’t want to leave Cher unattended for too long but I still wanted to go and see friends and of course I wanted to see the yarn.

Renee, Me, Jess

Jessica (right) has been my ultimate Sheep & Wool buddy and we ran into Renee of Miss Celie’s Pants as she was heading out (she got there when the gates opened!). I was wearing my Nerd Bird Makery baller shirt and immediately spotted someone else wearing their Nerd Bird gear and had to take a picture to send to Thao.

And it turns out she knew who I was and all about my dogs from Instagram. LOL I ran into a few Instagram followers and blog readers who wished Cher will and that was super sweet.

Me and Jacqueline

I also met Jacqueline, the designer behind the Ursa sweater! And she had a sample in my size and it was cute…I want to make this in cotton and I think I’ve got the perfect yarn. She made a linen version of her Ursa Minor that she’s wearing. I can’t get enough of the cropped sweaters.

Jessica, Me, Kristy, Kay and Kristy’s daughter Pipa

I also spent a little time with Kristy of Kristy Glass Knits and Kay Gardener from Mason-Dixon Knitting. When Kristy knew she was coming down for Maryland Sheep and Wool she asked me if we could sit down for an interview for her YouTube channel and I said ‘of course’ – so that’s coming sometime this summer. And I got to meet Kay in person since we do all our correspondence via email and social media. And the part you’ve all been waiting for…my latest editions to my stash.

Seven skeins of yarn, not a huge haul but a good one. Top left is some of my favorite Sparkly DK from Tempting Ewe Yarns in Siren. It happens to pair nicely with the teal and navy yarn I picked up from Backyard Fiberworks and I think all 5 skeins will become an awesome sweater. And the one wild thing I had to have was Ain’t It Fun from Knitty and Color. She really does awesome color. I honestly don’t need anymore yarn so I took one of my project bags and said I wouldn’t put more yarn in it than it could hold. So that meant it had to be really good yarn – and it all is! And I’ve got some more yarn coming my way but more on that on Friday. Did anyone else go to Sheep and Wool? Snag anything good? Do share!

  1. Thank you so much for the great info. I’m glad you had a good time.

  2. I have that exact same colorway “Ain’t it Fun!”! I guess great minds think alike! I wish I could have seen you at MSWF, but I was there Sunday.

    1. It’s such a good color!!! I don’t know what it will become but I’m excited about it ☺️

  3. As I said in your IG story, I think the “Ain’t it Fun” colorway should be named after you, Dana.

  4. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe you are wearing that T-shirt AND supplied the link!! I saw someone else with that shirt, followed her to ask where she got it and her reply was ‘some place in Portland.’ I’ve been searching high and low on the internet since Sat. for it and have come up empty. Today I ‘catch up’ with you and there it is / you are!! Many thanks. I was at the festival Sat and soggy Sun. Sorry our paths did not cross. A good time was had by all.

    1. Yay! I always try to link to things knitting related and I’m sure you’ll find lots of other cute shirts on her site too!
