Stitching Status: Progress & Peace and Quiet

It’s the end of the semester, which means it’s a bit chaotic. Spring semester has an urgency to it that the end of fall semester just doesn’t have. Couple that with spring fever in my students and man I’m ready for the semester to come to an end. But the end is near and I’m just weeks away from my first summer vacation in years. I cannot wait.

I also finished my second secret project I’ve been working on (yay!) which means I’m back to knitting for me. A while ago, pattern designer Hannah Fettig reached out to me and asked if I’d be interested in knitting her latest pattern, the Allison cardigan. She wanted to see it knit in color instead of greys and neutrals, so clearly she asked me HA! I like Hannah’s patterns and I love an open cardigan with pockets, so I said I’d knit it. I’m knitting it with Quince and Co. Owl yarn in the color Yucca, a yellow with bits of green and black in it. The color alone is making me happy. And even though it’s wool and I know Maryland is on the verge of being muggy city, we’re going to Chicago next month and it’s always sweater weather in Chicago so I look forward to wearing it there. I started it on Monday and I’m almost ready to separate for sleeves. I’m flying along and back to knitting what I really, really love – things for me with color! And since I’m knitting things I can share, you’ll get more progress and hopefully soon.

  1. Love the color and yes it will work for the Chi😉

  2. I suspect you’ll be knitting at a record breaking pace this summer in anticipation of very little knitting time once you’re a student again! I’m 60 years old and I still remember that delicious feeling of a whole free summer ahead. Enjoy!

  3. I love that color. It reminds me of Blue Sky Woolstok in Golden Meadow. Flecks of other colors too.

  4. Greetings from Grading Hell! You’ll find it sufficiently warmed up when you get here. Whew! Congrats on being a test knitter for Hannah Fettig! I like her designs, and your colour choice is nice. Have fun in Chicago! Summer vacation rocks!

  5. Nice color, Dana, which will look great on you….summer knitting is right around the corner. 😊

  6. So glad to hear you’ll get a summer vacation this year! Enjoy Chicago – while wearing your beautiful new sweater 😀

  7. Beautiful color, it will look fabulous in that design. Happy knitting. I love the book Extra Yarn too. My grandchildren received it as a present from a non-knitter (imagine that!), but they think of it as a Mimi book. My daughter, another non-knitter, loves the things i knit for the boys so they love them too. A win win!

  8. Great pattern! I’ve knit a lot of Hannah Fettig’s patterns and I’m going to knit this one. I have just the yarn for it.

  9. Great pattern and I love the color. Look forward to seeing more of this project.

  10. You’re knitting my personal “trifecta” — a great design (that I’ve been drooling over), one of my favorite yarns, AND a great color! Can’t wait to see it when you’re finished. 🙂

  11. I’m happy that you’re finding time for yourself in the end-of-semester rush! I’m there too — though I love my students, I just want this to be OVER now. It looks great, too!

Right now I’m knitting a tempestry, which is keeping my interest really well. Every row is an adventure!

  12. An early “Welcome To Chicago” to you! Love this city!
