FO: Livre Vest

I have had a few knitting goals this year that I have been doing really well to accomplish. The first, I need more cardigans and vests in my life. Layers I can take off and layers that are lighter than a pullover. My other big goal is to stop hoarding really pretty yarn and just knit with it so I can actually enjoy wearing it. This spring I checked both those things off my list when I made the Livre Vest.

I have had this Kindred Red Seashell Bra colorway in my stash for three years just waiting for me to finally use her. It is a gorgeous teal with these amazing speckles of hot pink and yellow and the color makes me insanely happy whenever I look at it and I finally said well, I just need to make something with it.

If you’re not sure to do with variegated yarns, do something small or do something in reverse stockinette. I actually considered using the reverse side of the vest because I loved the color pooling on both sides so much, but ended up going with the right side. But I’m just happy I actually used the yarn instead of waiting for it to waste away! The vest was simple and a quit knit on size 9 needles. It’s a slightly oversized fit on me, I could go down a size for more fitted but I wanted some ease to it. I love it and even wore it when my girlfriends and I went to the Philly Yarn Crawl in March!

I definitely need to add more vests to my wardrobe, it was such a perfect layer for spring! I can also see myself knitting this in boucle yarn for a really soft and cozy version too!

You inspire me! I bought yarn to make a vest this spring, purely to have a way to use some amazing buttons. It was crazy, but it will also make me happy!
